Thankful

I've been taking part in the Thankful in November posts daily on Facebook.  Not to be corny, but to remember why I'm so blessed.

I am thankful for everything I put on there, but here's a synopsis of what I'm thankful for (both lofty and small):

• I'm thankful that I'm a child of God.  That He sent his Son to die for me so I could be His.

• I'm thankful for my extended family... from my parents, grandparents, aunts/uncles, cousins, siblings, in-laws, nieces/nephews, etc.  There is seriously NO ONE I'd rather be with than family.

• I'm thankful for those friends who I consider family.  You know the ones... the ones I can have over even when my house is trashed, the ones I'd let come clean my house when I'm sick and can only watch them, the ones I can spill all my angst to... yeah, those are the ones.

• I'm thankful for all my other friends... the ones that entertain me, challenge me, make me laugh, make me cry (in a good way)
• I'm thankful for Don...  for lots of reasons.  He's a great daddy, he's ambitious (but not to the detriment of our family), he's funny, he's SO cute, he's disciplined, he has a heart for God's will in his/our life, he's a leader, and he loves me.

• I'm thankful for Sis...  she's so silly, HILARIOUS, sarcastic (in a good way... see HILARIOUS), she's part-child/part-woman, she's beautiful (inside & out), she's smart, she keeps me on my toes.

• I'm thankful for Bub...  he is never still, he's so smart, he never gives up, he's a great cuddler, he's so funny/silly, he has a heart of gold, he's smart

• I'm thankful for coffee... 'nuff said
• I'm thankful that Bub sings every time he's in the shower... it makes me smile every single day
• I'm thankful that Sis has such a gift for art...  she shines in that area!

• I'm thankful that my kids inherited Don's genes for memorizing lyrics...  they crack me up with a concert on a regular basis!

• I'm thankful that I am able to spend more time with my family now.
• I'm thankful that I'm able to cook more often now
• I'm thankful for the internet/Netflix/Facebook/Twitter

• I'm thankful for my health
• I'm thankful for this time of year when I get to see my family more often
• I'm thankful for my car... I love my "mom car!"

• I'm thankful for our cute apartment.  I seriously think we have the cutest apartment in our whole town!

• I'm thankful for traditions... tomorrow Don, the kids & I are volunteering to help put meals together for people who aren't able to get out...  Friday, I'm going shopping in the insane crowds with my sister... all because of traditions.

• I'm thankful for our church and our church family...  what an integral part of our lives!
• I'm thankful that I am able to sing on our Praise Team at church...  I'm glad to be able to use my voice.

• I'm thankful for our military men and women, both past and present...  from the bottom of my heart.  <3

Thankful Thursday

Let's get right to it...



Today, three things I am thankful for are:



1. I am going on a real live date with my hubby tomorrow night. There are no errands or anything tied in with it... it's just a real date! WOO HOO!



2. Warmer weather. I have already seen the forecast for this weekend, and the warm weather isn't permanent, but I am sure enjoying it while it's here!!!

3. The people in our Wednesday night class at church. The group has really grown in the past few years (with the growth of our church), and I've really enjoyed getting to know so many new great people.

Thankul Thursday

Oh, I am so, so thankful this week!!!

Here are my three things:

1. Bub is home from the hospital and feeling MUCH better! He's still home from school, but he may actually go back tomorrow (much to his chagrin!).

2. I am thankful for great nurses and health care providers. We were really blessed with a lot of great nurses this week while Bub was in the hospital. And Bub's pediatrician... well, she's just the best!

3. I am grateful and thankful for the power of prayer. Lots and lots and lots of people were praying for us this week, and I have NO DOUBTS in my mind that God was working on Bub's body. All the literature we read said that his symptoms could last from 4-8 days, and his lasted barely 4... it could have been a lot worse! Thanks to all of you who prayed!

Thankful Thursday

I'm pretty sure I forgot about my thankfulness last week, but I'm too lazy to go back and double-check. So, what am I thankful for this week?

1. I'm thankful for "blasts from the past" in the form of music. I have listened to Amy Grant all week, thanks to a "blast from the past" friend on Facebook. I can't believe how I still remember so many words from her early years! Also, my sisters, mom and I just ordered tickets for a Steven Curtis Chapman and Michael W Smith concert coming up. All this music that I used to listen to ALL THE TIME makes me reminisce and smile!

2. I'm thankful to have a new baby in our family (my cousin just had her first). That way I can get my baby fix without having to have one of my own! :)

3. I'm thankful that I'm having a grilled pork tenderloin sandwich today from Johnson's Corner. YUMMMMMMMMMM!!! (It doesn't take much to thrill me, does it?)

Thankful Thursday - Right on Time!

Yup, I'm one day late again! Does it count if I THOUGHT about what I was thankful for on Thursday? No? Well, then...

1. I'm so very, very thankful that my grandmother is doing so much better. She had two heart attacks on Monday, and it was a frightening night as the medical professionals fought to get her stable. As of last night, she's off her vent and her balloon pump, has eaten two meals and starts physical therapy today. THANK GOD!

2. I'm thankful for my family. I say this one a lot, but it's true. I spent time with my mom's side of the family quite a bit this week (see #1), and I appreciate the love and support of all of them.

3. I'm thankful for my marriage. We celebrated our anniversary this week... 13 years!!! As my boss said, "What? He's put up with you that long???" Yup. He has. Lucky guy!

Thankful Thursday

So, here it is again... Thankful Thursday. Aren't you glad I don't post Whiny Wednesdays? I was tempted to yesterday, but I'm over it!

So, today I'm thankful:

1. That I was in and out of the DMV in record time! I waited in NO lines, and they didn't make me pay extra or take a test in spite of the fact that my license had expired 5 months earlier! The picture, however... well, I'll just say it's my most hilarious to date!!!

2. That I'm blessed with such a great family. We had such a good time during our slumber party last weekend! And the more I hear about other families, the more I realize that I should NOT take our closeness for granted!

3. For the beautiful day in the middle of winter that we're having today. When I went to the DMV, it was 55 degrees outside! That's CRAZY for January! And it's sunny... not a cloud in the sky! I'm sure it won't last, but I'm going to enjoy it while it's here!

Thankful Thursday

Wow... those Thursdays come so fast these days, don't they??? I'm not really sure why I haven't done one of these in a while... most likely because I rarely finish anything I start, if I'm going to be honest! :)

So, here's three things I'm thankful for today:

1. HEAT!!! I mean it! It was -2 outside when I woke up. But it was warm in my house, warm in my car (after I ran it for a while), and it's warm in my office. And I have a space heater for when I get a bit chilled.

2. Hubby's career. First of all, I'm proud of him for being so smart, etc. But today, I'm really thankful that he's self-employed, and his career is flexible enough to allow him to stay home with the kids when their school gets called off... because it's cold. And he's still able to work from home.

3. Fun times with family. We're having our annual family slumber party at my parents' house this weekend. Hilarity, gluttony, and silliness will prevail. And it'll be a blast! I'm so excited! And I plan to have PLENTY of blackmail pictures and video afterward!

Thankful Thursday

Hmmmm... it's Thursday again. Have you been thankful today???

Here are three things I'm thankful for this cold fine Thursday:

1. I'm thankful that I work with a fun bunch of people. We had our Christmas lunch today. A lady I work with got out her accordion and we sang Christmas carols. It was hilarious! And I sang the kindergarten version of "Jingle Bells," meaning I YELLED "Hey!" and I added the "ha ha ha" parts. Great fun! Silly fun!

2. I'm thankful I know how to do this now... expect to see it regularly. I'm like a little kid with a new toy.

3. I'm thankful that even though I'm not nearly ready for Christmas yet (ie. buying gifts), I'm relaxed and enjoying the season regardless.

Thankful Thursday

Isn't it ironic that on THANKSGIVING I didn't do a Thankful Thursday post???



Let's just all agree that I was completely thankful that day, but didn't feel the need to post about it! Or we could agree that I was just lazy... whatever!



Today, I am thankful for:



1. My kids who are into being especially thankful themselves right now. Sis told me the other night that I was a great mom. Then she was so proud of herself for being nice that she expounded: "Isn't it nice when someone says something nice like that? It's like getting a little bit of sunshine on the inside, isn't it?" They rock.



2. My husband. 'Nuff said. I already said it all here.



3. My parents, who every year let me ask them last minute to watch my kids for some Christmas event Don and I have to go to... and they not only willingly watch them when they can, they make it a fun event for my kids!

Thankful Thursday

You thought I forgot, didn't you??? Well, I did!!! This is the problem with setting up any sort of patterned behavior... I'm ALWAYS going to break the pattern!

So, here are three things I'm thankful for:

1. I'm thankful there is no such thing as Blog Police... they might be offended that I keep posting Thankful Thursdays on Fridays.

2. I'm thankful that Bub's Royal Rangers outdoor activity tonight was canceled. Not sure if my sneezy, coughing family could have handled the wet, cold outdoors all night!

3. I'm thankful for antibiotics. Z-packs, to be specific.

Thankful Thursday -- one day late

So, I've had an awful week this week. There was an awful, awful tragedy that happened at my workplace. Having to deal with things is a not-so-great part of my job. And it's not over.

In spite of this, or maybe even more so BECAUSE of this, I want to focus on things I'm thankful for.

1. I am thankful for both of these Bible verses. They have both been in my head and heart this week when I didn't know what to do, what to say, how to feel...

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave
you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged." Deuteronomy
31:8

But he said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made
perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my
weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

2. I am thankful for those that love me... friends, family, and "work family" have all pulled together this week for me and for whomever else needed it.

3. I am thankful that I have something fun to look forward to tomorrow... A Fancy Nancy birthday party, no less. I'm going to Fancy the rest of those Nancies right out of there!!!

Today I am starting my Thankful Thursday post... I will (hopefully, if I remember) post three things each Thursday that I am thankful for (did you catch all that alliteration?).
