He blames it on a cookie and fruit punch

So, last week, Don and I got ticket to the Cardinals game, so we took the kids with us.

On a school night.

Cause we're crazy rebels like that.  :)

Bub was so excited all week, which I'm sure had NOTHING to do with the fact that his best friend also got to go to the Cards game last week, too (those boys love their sports!).

At one point, Bub got chilly and tucked his arms into his sleeves to keep warm.  Then he decided he was like a Tyrannosaurus Rex.

He kept saying, "I have a big head, with itty bitty arms."  Which is apparently from a movie.  Then he would laugh hysterically every. single. time.

Then he started dancing and playing baseball with his "big head and itty bitty arms."

While that cracked me up, this one makes me laugh even more.  He was having so fun and being so silly... until he saw something on the Jumbotron.  He got so serious, so quickly.

I was teasing him about being so silly, and he said it was J from school's fault...

??????

He said it was her birthday, and he had a cookies AND fruit punch... and THAT'S what made him so hyper!

Bring on more cookies!

A Recorder Recorded

On one of the last days of school, right before I was set to leave to take the kids to school, Sis told me that she and the rest of the 4th graders were having a recorder concert at 8:30, and did I want to come???

Ugh.

Really????

A RECORDER concert?

I mean, I haven't even been letting Sis practice her recorder in my hearing... I make her go to another floor on the opposite end of the house when she needs to practice. It's musically PAINFUL to listen to a recorder, in my opinion. So, I totally used work as an excuse politely declined to attend.

So, on the way home, both kids were ladened with all their year-end paraphernalia (dried-out markers, pencils with the erasers gone, etc.), and Sis also had her recorder with her. She nonchalantly asked me if I wanted her to play Mary Had a Little Lamb. Feeling slightly guilty for missing her "concert," I agreed. Then I turned and looked at her, and laughed the rest of the way home.

Once Don got home from work, I had her "re-create" her mini-concert for him. And I had the presence of mind to record it from Don's phone:

Pesky Little Brothers

Alternate Title: Annoying Older Sisters -- Hey, this is my blog... I can call it whatever I want!

So, at a family reunion this weekend, my brother and I were trying to pose for a picture. I say trying because by the time my brother-in-law had the camera set up to take our picture, we had already started a tickling war.

Apparently, he took the pictures anyway!

I love my silly family!!!!

Cracking myself up!

I am cracking myself up that I am doing a blog... ME! I still write like I'm in first grade sometimes! I have gotten addicted, however, to reading several blogs lately, mostly family members', and it's really helped me to stay caught up in their lives. So, I'm going to try to do the same for them! I'm not as prolific a writer as my siblings, but I can definitely take pictures, so maybe I'll photo-blog!

We are nearing the end of the summer already. Where has it gone??? School registration begins later this week! Sis is going into 3rd grade this year, and Bub is going into 2nd. Their school is K-3, so Sis is VERY excited to be the "big girl on campus" this year.

We are finishing the end of the softball/baseball season (thankfully... it's hotter than all-get-out outside!). Don has coached Bub's team this year... not sure if he'll EVER do that again! hee. So, I've gone mostly to Sis's games, since their games fall on the same night. The biggest difference I've found in beginning softball vs. baseball is that the baseball players yell out encouragement (??) to their teammates, and the softball players make up cheers for them from the bench. No kidding...

So, we'll see if this blog keeps up, or goes away into oblivion after this initial posting....
